One of my old childhood friends is getting married, and I’m so excited! We grew up in the same neighborhood when we were younger and attended elementary school together. We lost touch during our middle school years, since I moved to another neighborhood, but in the end, we ended up attending the same high school and graduated together. July 18th, 2009 is her special day, and I’m really happy for her. But on the other hand, I’m really surprised, because I still think we’re still quite young. She is the same age as me, currently sitting at 20 years old. But regardless of that, I do wish her all the best. I guess marrying young is now a norm? Maybe I’m just too traditional.
Anyways, I enjoyed a delicious fruit combination comprised of a sliced granny smith apple with a mandarin orange topped off with almonds in the afternoon.
A while later, I did a quick 2 miles on the treadmill, before heading out the door. And upon coming home in the evening, I enjoyed another round of a tofu sandwich made up of almond butter, sauteed tofu, romaine lettuce, and cucumbers on sprouted grain bread. This was enjoyed with a sliced granny smith apple and carrot sticks.
Almond butter paired with tofu is my officially my favorite sandwich combination.
I then finished off the evening with the last of the dutch chocolate frozen yogurt and topped it off with a handful of crunchy nature’s path bran flakes.
I also ended up munching on a few handfuls of roasted cashews and some other munchings and nibblings. When my parents came home in the evening, I was just offered so many delightful eats, that I really couldn’t resist. But, I’m totally savouring it, because in a matter of time, I won’t be greeted with a full pantry and a full fridge of good eats!

O no I don’t think you’re traditional at all! haha i can’t see myself getting married before age like, 26 at least! Some people do move more quickly- and at least if your friends get married early it means you can go to their fun wedding!

i think getting married young is more traditional, but yea it seems people either get married really young, and it also seems a lot of people are getting married in their 30’s. oh well, good to know we have time =)

you totally read Archie while you ate lunch!!!! Archie comics might be my favorite things on earth! I know you mentioned them before, but it was still exciting to see a photo!

Isn’t it so strange that our friends are now the age to get married?! I feel like I’m not old enough to be grown up yet!!

Your tofu sandwich looks delightful!! I really want that for lunch tomorrow.

That’s so exciting!! One of my friends is getting married next year
But she’s gonna be 24 on the big day (Nov), so it’s not that young (she’s a year older than I am).

I feel so old when people around me get married. Congrats to your friend.

20 seems a little young to be married for me, i’m thinking more later twenties. Anyway that sandwich looks amazing i really want to try one with almond butter-yummy, yum! Oh and i’m lovin the archie comics with lunch! Veronica is my fav.

I was 23 when I got married and it’s younger than I thought I would be married growing up, but it was the right time. I do notice a trend of early-twenty-somethings getting married, but often it’s to their HS/college sweethearts. Interesting subject of discussion!
I bet the tofu goes well with the AB–I’d definitely give it a go!

My wife and I got married at 18 and have been happily married for 17 years. Wow! That makes me a lot older that I like to think I am! Anyhow, we both agree that we would have probably been wiser to have waited, as many others who follow that path end up in divorce, but it worked for us.
Great pics of the food!

Congratulations to your friend!! How lovely!!
Oh my goodness, your food is always sooo colorful and gorgeously-plated!! Love it!! And Archie Comics??? Classic!!

I, also, think that she is quit young to get married. That is just my opinion. I personally think that after 25 years of age you should start thinking about getting married. That is just my rule!
Great meal menu
Thanks for sharing your pictures with us

Congrats to your friend! Both my fiance and I will be 24 when we get married in August, but we will have been together for almost 5 years by then!! I think it isn’t so much about the exact age, but just about it being the right time for a couple.
I’ve missed seeing your fab. sandwiches everyday!!!

Almond butter and tofu? What an interesting sounding combo!

I thought getting married young was traditional and waiting until you’re older is the new way of doing things
Posted by The American Homemaker on 7 January 2009 at 8:09 am
tofu and almond butter, how creative!?
I am 26 and still not married but will probably seal the deal soon. I know lots of my friends have already been married or are engaged now or starting the baby making. I feel the pressure much more now more than I did at 20 - At 20 I just wanted to get married because I wanted to have a wedding!
Best of luck to your friend, its so great that you kept in touch!

Wow, great snacks! I wish I had that bowl of oranges and apples!

Traditions are what you make them. If you get married it’s when it’s right for you. My wife and I got married when we were both 36. It’s been working well for 20 years. My daughter is 20 and I’m not sure if I could see her married yet.

Your fruit/nut combination looks great. And I agree 20 seems a bit young to be getting married. I think the older we get the younger ages appear.
Posted by Meghann on 7 January 2009 at 11:23 am
That bowl of fruit and nuts looks SO good right now!
I’m 28 and not married.. or even in a realtionship now.. and while i do feel the pressure (3 of my friends are getting married this year!)..I’m ok with what I’m doing now.. If I’m 35 and not married.. then i will worry.. haha

great snacks! 20 is a bit young to get married for me, i sincerely cant imagine at my age that, but if they found each other as the right person , theyre lucky!

You’re bowl of fruit looks so good. I literally ate like an hour ago and I’m craving a big bowl of fruit already. You’re pictures are gorgeous!
I’m 23 and have been with my boyfriend almost 4 years now, I constantly joke about us getting married (half joking…really) but to be honest I know I’m still not ready. I was in the wedding of my first childhood friend, this past summer, and I am in 2 more in the next year and a 1/2. It’s nuts, I feel like i’m still 16 at times and everyone around me is an adult lol.

Wow 20 is really young to be getting married!!! I don’t think your too traditional, its just statistics…most people don’t end up marrying people the date when their in their teens (I’m guessing htey’ve been dating since high schoool?). I am getting married in Sept, 2 months before I turn 27 and it seems perfect timing to me. I wouldn’t have done it earlier.
Anywhoo…delicious looking food!!! I never would have thought tofu and AB would be good together!!

i just love that you read archie comics! I used to read them all the time!
That sandwich looks delicious!

I would’ve never thought to pair almond butter and tofu! I must try it soon!
Posted by Kiki on 7 January 2009 at 1:34 pm
My niece is getting married on the same exact day! How funny! I think 20 is kind of young, but you never know, they could be married for 50 years!!
